Porsche 911 Carrera

(996) 40th Anniversary Commemorative Edition

The Swinger’s commemorative model is based on the previous model 996 rear-wheel drive Porsche 911 Carrera but with the naturally aspirated horsepower second only to the 996 GT3, combined with enhanced handling features, and unique interior and exterior styling. The 40thAnniversary 911’s 3.6-liter 24 valve DOHC VarioCam flat-six engine produces 345 bhp, 25 bhp more than the base model 911 Carrera (996). As a result, the model is one second faster than the regular 996 Carrera from 0 to 200 kph with a time of 16.5 seconds. The car’s top track speed of 290 kph also makes it the second fastest non-turbocharged model in the previous 911 line.

More aggressive sport suspension settings also distinguish the 40th Anniversary 911 from its 996 stable mate’s handling capability. Combined with the standard electronic Porsche Stability Management (PSM) system and an additional mechanical rear-axle limited slip differential lock which provides even better traction and optimum acceleration potential, Swinger really has an excellent variant that should leave him very satisfied with his purchase. Having the only existing one in the country should definitely extend its value and pride of ownership.

The 40th Anniversary 911’s distinctive styling features include GT silver metallic exterior paint color that is exclusive to this model and the Carrera GT, front cooling air ducts adopted from the 996 Turbo, body color intake grills, left and right sill trims, an aluminum “911” logo on the engine cover, unique shot-blasted and polished 18” Carrera wheels, and high-gloss polished exhaust tailpipes. A sliding sunroof, bi-xenon headlights with dynamic beam angle control and a headlight cleaning system complete the standard exterior features.

The interior is trimmed in naturally soft dark gray leather which includes the leather lined and double stitched dashboard. Other interior details include sport Recaro seats with two-stage heating (not that you would need it here except when perhaps a passenger needs some priming); center console, seat backs and dashboard groove trim strips and handbrake lever side covers finished in GT silver metallic; aluminum-finish instrument dial rings; and a numbered “911 40thAnniversary” plaque on the center console.

At this level of performance and exclusivity, the seemingly marginal differences between Swinger’s 911 and other NA and even turbocharged 996 cars can’t filly articulate the importance to the owner and its profound totality to the overall driving experience.
