The official distributor of Changan vehicles in the country opened the doors to its brand new 2,300 square meter headquarters at the Auto Resources Center (ARC) at Calamba, Laguna on December 2, 2022. The new facility aims to be the command center of the brand’s bid to make a lasting impression in the Philippine market, having entered our shores in November 2020.
Apart from the expansive showroom that can accommodate up to nine vehicles and the company’s main office, the complex also features a 1,245 square meter full-service work area and an EV charging station that will cater to the electric vehicles the Chinese automaker intends to introduce in the near future.
At present, in line with the inauguration of Changan Auto’s new headquarters, the company also introduced their new Uni line of SUVs, the Changan Uni-T and the Uni-K. First introduced in the Chinese market in mid to late 2020, the compact and mid-size SUVs are now available for the first time in the Philippines, and usher in the first Changan models sporting the Vision-V design language in the country.
The Uni-T is powered by a 1.5 liter turbocharged gasoline inline-4 engine, and is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. All told, the new compact crossover has a power output of 177 BHP and a pulling strength of 221 ft-lbs. Other key features include an extra-large panoramic sunroof, an aerodynamically-designed V-shaped rear spoiler, and an Auto Parking Assist (APA).
The Uni-K on the other hand, the larger of the two new offerings, is powered by a 2.0 liter Blue Core TGDi engine with an 8-speed shift-by-wire automatic transmission. The mid-size SUV also features all-wheel drive and a power output of 229 BHP at 288 ft-lbs. of torque.
The Uni-T and Uni-K are priced at PhP 1,679,000 and PhP 2,719,000 respectively and both come with premium Sony sound systems and, more importantly, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) all as standard equipment.
With its new facilities and the introduction of two new vehicles, Changan Motor Philippines is optimistic in bolstering its presence in the country. “Our total (global) sales have achieved 1.9 million units and this number will increase to 2.4 million by this year’s end. So with the Philippines now part of the global family, we have high hopes of growing the brand further,” says CIC Sales Director Arieson Zhang.
