2019 Ranger gets new engine and fascia

Ford PH surprises with upgraded Ranger

Although the Ranger Raptor was the headliner of the gathering, Ford Philippines surprised as it revealed revamps on its best-selling Ranger, featuring engine upgrades and a new fascia. The 2019 Ranger has an introductory price of PHP 1,029,000.

Three diesel powertrains are offered in the Ranger including the affirmed 2.2L TDCi, 2.0L Turbo engines and the new 2.0L Bi-Turbo. Keep in mind that the top-of-the-line Ranger now features the same motor as the Ranger Raptor. This Wildtrak 4×4 variant’s 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission that is also shared with the Ranger Raptor.

Available on the Wildtrak 4×2 is the 2.0L Turbo diesel engine is also combined with the 10-speed automatic transmission, delivering 180 PS and 420 Nm of torque.

The Ranger’s XLT and XLS variants include the 2.2L XLS 4X2 AT variant in the portfolio and integrated with the current Ranger’s 2.2L TDCi engine, offering 160 PS and 385 Nm of torque. It is paired with either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission.

This surprise reveal of the updated Ranger showcases a bolder look as it features a new grill and a new lower bumper for a more balanced look. LED daytime running lights and HID headlights, a hoop sports bar, roof rails and bed rails come standard in the Wildtrak variants.

Changes are also seen inside as the Ranger now exhibits a black theme throughout the interior, combined with shadow chrome details and silver accent stitching.

Various smart and safety features are made available in the upgraded Ranger. Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) aids drivers in alerting them of incoming pedestrians and vehicles with audible and visual warnings. It also comes with Active Park Assist (APA) to help them find parallel parking spaces and steers itself to the parking spot while the driver controls the throttle and brake. Fitting for highway or city driving, the new Ranger features Adaptive Cruise Control. The XLT and Wildtrak variants now come with Tailgate Lift Assist, meaning the raising of the tailgate to close it is made lighter by 70 percent.

The infotainment system has been upgraded in the Ranger with the installation Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for easier access to calls, music and applications.

  • Ranger 2.2L XLT 4×2 MT – PHP 1,173,000
