Having since made its debut at the 2016 Beijing International Auto Exhibition, the 2017 will soon make it to Philippine shores. Having minor tweaks to its exterior and interior, the 2017 Lexus IS promises to deliver a bolder and sportier sedan, all while retaining the brand’s distinct luxury.
Starting off with the exterior, the front fascia of the Lexus IS gets a slight tweak thanks to its re-finished headlamps. Its LED Daytime running lights (DRLs) now also resemble the ones found on the RC Coupe.
The F-sport variant’s grill also receives a 3-dimensional F-mesh pattern and is finished in Jet Black Metallic. The IS will also get functional brake ducts that, according to Lexus, further improves aerodynamics.
The 2017 IS also receives an upgrade with its footwork, having ten-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels that will be available in new bright machine finishes. Retouched LED taillights, rectangular chrome exhaust pipes and two new paint finishes, namely Deep Blue Mica and Black Glass Flake, also get thrown into the mix for the new IS.
Like the exterior, the cabin pretty much carries over apart from some key updates. For starters, the infotainment screen bumps up to a larger 10-inch display as compared to the older 7-inch screen. The center stack audio and climate controls have also been repositioned to provide a seamless look when flanked by the knee bolsters. The Remote Touch Interface (RTI) now has an ‘Enter’ button for better ergonomics.
New cabin color options also make their way inside the 2017 IS such as Nuance Black and Noble Brown. Rounding off the interior changes are new cup holders and a large leather wrapped palmrest for the RTI.
Powering the 2017 Lexus IS is still its 3.5-liter V6. It puts out 311 HP at 6,400 rpm along with 276 lb/ft of torque at 4,800 rpm. Both the standard 350 and 350 F-Sport will be mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
