Joined by a new RXL trim, priced at PhP 4.758M

Lexus has unveiled the new 2020 RX luxury SUV in the Philippine market today, revealing significant changes to the brand’s core model, which helped establish the luxury SUV segment when it was first introduced in 1998.

The new RX is a testament to Lexus’ commitment in maintaining its status as a pioneer for luxury SUVs. Lexus has been a stronghold the luxury SUV segment in the country, consistently holding the highest market share since 2015. Moreover, the RX remains the best-selling model in the brand’s line-up. It is also the marque’s most successful vehicle based on historical sales. As of June 2019, the RX has 1,413 thousand units sold since it was first introduced locally in 2009. With the launch of the latest iteration of the RX, Lexus hopes to fortify its leadership in the Commercial Vehicle segment.

Outside, the 2020 RX exterior retains a charismatic and sporty appearance. The character line that runs from the front of the vehicle to the rear has been improved, giving the RX’s overall appearance exceptional flow and consistency. Rear fenders are linked with the bumper, which blend with the window graphic on the bottom section of the rear pillar.  The signature Lexus spindle grille adds modulation to the ‘L’ pattern mesh and a new frame that blends into the side of the front bumpers. The result is an elegant, dynamic exterior that emphasizes Lexus’ new design language.

The introduction of the RXL variant offers versatility without compromise. Third row seats now feature two different seating positions.  In addition to the traditional seating arrangement, additional leg space can be had with the new setting when the situation demands. Power folding 50/50 split third row seats fold away independently, allowing to accommodate changing passenger and luggage configurations. Controls and switches are located in the passenger side trim of the second row, and in the left side of the luggage area. The luggage space is gap-free, regardless of whether the third row seats are in used or not. Connectivity features adds Apple Car Play and Android Auto as well as touchscreen and touchpad options.

Under the hood of the RXL is a 3.5L V6 engine capable of churning out 290 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 263 lb-ft. of torque at 4,700 rpm. It is connected with an eight-speed automatic electronically controlled transmission. The RX 450h is a self-charging hybrid SUV with an internal combustion engine that can produce 258 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 272 lb-ft. of torque at 4,500 rpm. The electric motor produces 165 bhp at the front, while the rear puts out 67 bhp. Moving on to torque, the front motors churns out 247 lb-ft, while the rears produce 103 lb-ft.
