It was a rousing third quarter for the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors as it reported a whopping 212 percent sales increase vis-a-vis its performance during the previous quarter.
From a mere 4,955 units sold for the period of April to June, AVID posted a 15,471 sales figure for the months of July to September. The Light Commercial Vehicle segment led the way with 9,763 vehicles sold versus 3,349 units for Q2. The 192 percent growth came courtesy of Ford, followed by Suzuki, and Hyundai.
While the Passenger Car segment only posted 5,622 unit sales, it grew by a substantial 260 percent. This is a huge improvement over the 1,561 units sold for Q2, which was possible thanks to Hyundai, Suzuki, and Ford who take up the segment’s top 3 spots.
This tremendous growth can be attributed to such factors as rapid digital transformation, value-packed promos, and stringent health and safety protcols being put in place to ensure the well-being of both buyers and dealer staff. With this, it looks like AVID is on its way to finishing 2020 on a high note—odds notwithstanding.
