Chinese Luxury Brand Hongqi Enters Philippine Market

FAW Hongqi (pronounced “hong-chi”), a prestigious Chinese luxury car brand founded in 1958, is making its way to the Philippines. EVOxTerra has been appointed as the official distributor of Hongqi vehicles in the country.

Hongqi’s limousines and SUVs have long been favored by prominent individuals such as government officials, heads of state, business people, and celebrities, serving as symbols of status. The vehicles are designed with comfort, convenience and safety in mind, offering a luxurious alternative to traditional means of transportation.

“We are extremely proud to bring this legendary car marque to the Philippines and let Filipinos finally experience for themselves the many reasons why Hongqi remains such an enduring international brand,” said Rashid Delgado, President of EVOxTerra, at the recent press conference held in TDG In.Hub in Taguig.

Delgado emphasized EVOxTerra’s dedication to environmental protection and the advancement of mobility through its collaboration with Hongqi. Mr. Wang Zuoquan, General Manager of FAW Hongqi Overseas, expressed his enthusiasm for this project: “We are very excited to finally enter the Philippine market and give Filipino car enthusiasts the Hongqi brand of utmost luxury, state-of-the-art design, and topnotch performance.”

Robert Shaw, VP and General Manager of EVOxTerra, weighed in on their decision to expand into the Philippine market in light of the nation’s recovery from the pandemic: “With the country well on its way to recovery from the pandemic, we think this is an excellent time to further expand Hongqi’s global footprint,”

The partnership between Hongqi and a Philippine company was recently announced following the 10th Philippine Electric Vehicle (EV) Summit held in October of last year. At the event, attendees were able to get a first look at the Hongqi E-HS9 electric sport-utility vehicle, featuring European styling and luxurious interiors.

The initial line of vehicles that will be available in the Philippines are split into two categories: New Energy Vehicles (NEV) and Internal Combustion Energy (ICE). State-of-the-art technology makes these cars fuel-efficient, modern, and environmentally friendly.
