Ferrari’s long-awaited Purosangue SUV finally arriving this September

If you’re an avid follower of the latest automotive news, you may have remembered news from Ferrari about its plans to launch its very own SUV within the next few years. This was made sometime in 2018 during its Capital Markets Day celebration. Well, the wait is almost over as the Italian hypercar maker has just revealed that it will indeed reveal the Purosangue this coming September.

Announced during this year’s Capital Markets Day, Ferrari disclosed that it will debut its very first SUV with a naturally-aspirated V12 powerplant under the hood. While it  refuses to call its upcoming vehicle an SUV, it did say that it will be different  from anything it has ever built.

Unlike most carmakers that rely on SUV and crossover sales to make up a large chunk of their earnings, Ferrari said it will do its best to keep its upcoming Purosangue as exclusive as possible. It went on further by disclosing that the SUV would account for only one of every 5 vehicles sold.

And while the Purosangue will still use a mighty V12 gasoline engine, the Prancing Horse did say it is serious about going electric. More specifically, it is aiming for 60 percent of total sales to be electric vehicles by 2026, while some 40 percent would be made up of vehicles powered  by conventional fossil fuels.

While this future goal looks really promising, all eyes will be on Maranello within the next few months leading up to the Ferrari Purosangue’s big reveal. Stay tuned for that one.
