Ford v Ferrari wins at the Oscars

It may be an automotive film, a racing movie at that. Yet this didn’t stop Ford v Ferrari from bagging two Academy Awards at this year’s Oscars.

The film, which is also known as Le Mans in some countries, depicts the story of Ford sport scar boss Caroll Shelby and race car driver Ken Miles’ quest to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The movie itself did win at the Oscars for Best Sound Editing and Best Film Editing.

Apart from facing some stiff competition from the likes of 1917, The Irishman, The Joker, and the Best Film winner Parasite from South Korea, Ford v Ferrari was also nominated for Best Sound Mixing and Best Picture.

What also made the victory significant was that the movie was the first automotive and motor racing film to win an Oscar since Grand Prix, which won Best Sound Editing, Best Film Editing, and Best Effects/Sound Effects in April of 1967.

For those into motor racing and cars, this is one film you should not miss.
