Lexus Manila at 12: Bringing hospitality and warmth to the luxury car market

It was in January of 2009 when Lexus Manila opens its doors to the Filipino people. Not only did it usher in a new brand. It likewise brought in a new premium car ownership experience.

Lexus Manila began its journey with what people see first—its dealership. While most automaker simply construct a cold, lifeless structure, Lexus Manila paid attention to design and architecture to make it more home-y and inviting. It even placed a landscaped garden inside the dealership to connect with nature.

While Lexus was originally known for its sedans like the LS, ES, GS, and IS, Lexus Manila introduced a more attainable model with a different shape and advanced drivetrain in 2011. We refer to the CT hatchback that was powered by the brand’s vaunted Hybrid Synergy Drive. This was essentially a combination of a gasoline engine and electric motor.

Lexus is likewise known for its full line of SUVs and crossovers. When it entered the local market in 2009, it brought in the full size LX, as well as the GX and later on, the RX. It eventually added the smaller yet still luxurious NX and UX. Nowadays, there’s an SUV and crossover for every lifestyle. It now even has a luxury people mover in the form of the recently launched LM full size van.

Yes, the Lexus brand is well known for its luxurious and smooth operator vibe. Yet the brand also has a sporty, performance oriented side. Those that want performance sedans had the GS F Sport that came in 2015. The IS F Sport, on the other hand, is the compact sports sedan that can go up against the Germans. And of course, there are the RC F and the LFA supercar. While the latter may not have been sold here, it was a showcase of the marque’s technological capabilities.

And of course, all this was backed by Lexus Manila’s very own personalized way of service. You don’t simply bring your car in for service. You likewise get to experience a caring warm, atmosphere, complete with a cup of coffee.

So what’s in store for Lexus Manila for the coming years? Apart from bringing in more models–a lot of them hybrids–, it likewise looks to more mobile luxury vehicles like the LM luxury van. And of course, it aims to make its customers feel more at home, as well as treat them to the world class craftsmanship by Takumi craftsmen that make its cars a cut above most other luxury nameplates.
