Lotus uses its lightweight vehicle expertise to develop next-generation Electric Vehicle Architecture

It has even garnered full support and funding from the UK Government

We all know Lotus to be a maker of lightweight, high performance sports cars. Those who know the brand may even note that it specializes in this type of vehicle architecture to help improve driving dynamics. Now, it seems that Lotus is looking to use its expertise in lightweight vehicle architecture for a next-generation Battery Electric Vehicle.

The Lightweight Electric Vehicle Architecture (LEVA) is a new vehicle platform designed by Lotus, in cooperation with Sarginsons Industries and academics from Brunel University, London. The partnership will help bring out the full potential of this new vehicle platform.

In line with this, LEVA was recently given full support by the UK Government, along with the necessary funding to help bring it to fruition. Awarded under the Advanced Propulsion Center’s Advanced Route to Market Demonstration competition, the project will be funded by the UK Government’s Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy

While Lotus has not given any details about the project, we’re quite certain high performance motoring will be part of LEVA’s potential.
