When the letters JCW are attached to the MINI name, you just know it’s something special. But what if you add the GP designation at the end? Well, for MINI fans, this is exclusivity at its best. Enter the MINI John Cooper Works GP, which comes into the country with a truly limited edition.
When we say limited, we mean only 6 units have been brought in. These cars are taken from the 3,000 copies that were produced worldwide. But what’s so special about the GP badge, you ask?
Apart from the lineage to the Formula 1 designer John Cooper, the GP gives the MINI Cooper S even more power, performance, and looks. It begins with a model-specific front apron with large air intakes, wheel arches made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic ,black accents on the headlamps and other exterior pieces, and exclusive alloy rims that are likewise lightweight to aid performance. All this is finished in an exclusive Racing Grey with contrasting Melting Silver Metallic.
Step inside and you will be greeted by a model-specific cabin with Dinamica/leather trim that utilizes weight saving techniques such as keeping the seating down to two and minimizing sound insulation materials. This is enhanced by cutting-edge technology such as a 3D printed steering wheel rim and paddle shifters while the displays are all digital with model specific information.
At the heart of the MINI JCW GP is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder powerplant that features MINI TwinPower technology. This gives it a rousing 306bhp and 332lb-ft of torque that’s coursed to the drive wheels via 8-speed Steptronic automatic with integrated front mechanical locking differential. This allows it to sprint from 0-100km/h in just 5.2 seconds and hit a 265km/h top speed.
An oil supply and cooling system that’s geared towards performance helps keep the engine at optimum levels while the sports exhaust system not only lets the air flow freely but is accompanied by a soundtrack that invites you to take this car out on the open road.
Moreover, the extremely rigid body, chassis, and suspension setup that has been lowered by 10mm help give the GP the utmost grip and cornering prowess. Sports brakes, meanwhile, are designed to provide maximum stopping power from high speeds.
The MINI John Cooper Works GP retails for P4,800,000.
