The month of August may have seen the re-implementation of the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine to try and curb the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the country. Yet this same month was surprisingly a good one for companies like Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC), which witnessed increased sales during this period.
The Japanese carmaker reported sales of 2,621 units, allowing it to retain its 2nd best selling automaker position as per industry sales. This can be attributed to increased sales of the L300.
The utility van sold 699 units, an increase of 35 percent compared to the 517 units sold in July. This can be traced to more companies looking for such vehicles for their delivery needs.
The L300 was followed closely by the Xpander, with 620 examples leaving showroom floors. The Strada pick-up returned 564 unit sales during the same month to take third place in the carmaker’s sales charts
Mitsubishi is hopeful that this trend will continue, especially with promos such as its Rollback offer that gives huge discounts on models like the Mirage G4 and L300. And with the country slowly recovering, expect more sales from MMPC and the industry as a whole in the months to come.
