Since March of this year, San Miguel Corporation (SMC) has been extending free toll privileges and fuel subsidies to frontliners who have been battling the dreaded coronavirus. Now that we’ve hit August and are back in a state of Modified Community Quarantine, SMC continues its efforts to help our brave medical workers.
To date, some 9,260 healthworkers and frontliners have availed of the free RFID for use on the South Luzon Expressway, Southern Luzon Access Road, NAIA-Expressway, Skyway, and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway.
As for fuel subsidies, SMC has given some 300 liters a day of fuel to 60 Department of Transportation and Metro Manila Development Authority shuttles since April to ferry frontliners to and from their places of duty. It’s part of a move to reward them for their bravery amid the crisis and the dangers it poses.
With these, SMC hopes to further the cause of battling the COVID-19 pandemic in any little way it can.
