Safety feature-filled 2019 Volvo XC40 arrives in PH

2019 XC40 offers stress-free driving in urban environment

Scandinavian Motors Corporation, the exclusive distributor of Volvo Cars in the Philippines, recently launched its new premium crossover, the 2019 Volvo XC40, in a summer-themed event at Sofitel Plaza, Pasay City.

Meant for urban driving, the 2019 XC40 makes daily driving less stressful and more enjoyable, thanks to the brand’s signature safety features, connectivity, and infotainment technologies that were first installed on Volvo 90 and 60 Series.

“The XC40 is our first car in this rapidly growing segment and has a clear focus on navigating today’s hectic city environments. Building on Volvo’s heritage as the leader in safety, the new XC40 will offer the best possible safety standards combined with an easy-to-use interface and convenient connected services,” said Håkan Samuelsson, president and chief executive.

The 2019 Volvo XC40 is now built in the new Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) that hosts an array of technologies first introduced in the 90 and 60 Series based on Volvo’s larger Scalable Product Architecture (SPA).

Among the safety features included on the XC40 are Run-off Road protection and mitigation, Cross Traffic alert with auto brake, and the 360-degree camera that helps drivers maneuver their car into tight parking spaces, making it one of the best-equipped premium crossovers in the market.

With the busy roads of the urban environment, the XC40 is made to reduce the “cognitive load” on the driver, and let the safety technologies get the work done, enabling the driver to relax more and enjoy city driving.

Apart from the safety features, the XC40 is also equipped with connectivity technologies such as the Sensus Infotainment System with a large portrait-oriented screen, allowing drivers to access lots of functions and services. All screens inside the cabin have been optimized for a safe, easy, and efficient interaction, to support active city driving.

Powering the 2019 XC40 is a D3 inline-4 turbodiesel engine that produces 148 bhp and 236 lb-ft of torque; and a T5 inline-4 turbo gas engine capable of an output of 249 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. For the D3 variant, the power is sent to the front wheels, while the top variant T5 has an all-wheel-drive system. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The 2019 Volvo XC40 is available in six colors namely: Bursting Blue, Onyx Black, Crystal White, Bright Silver, Osmium Gray, and Fusion Red. It is also priced as follows:

  • XC40 D3 Momentum – Php 3,350,000
  • XC40 D3 R-Design – Php 3,495,000
  • XC40 T5 AWD R-Design – Php 3,895,000
