As a large part of the country reels from the devastating effects of typhoon Odette, conglomerate San Miguel Corporation mobilizes efforts to provide aid to stricken communities in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
SMC donated roughly P30 million worth of food to different provinces in the Visayas and Mindanao regions in response to the calamity that struck these areas last week.
In addition, fuel subsidy Petron is doing all it can to provide for fuel in the said areas as supplies is running low due to the damages sustained during the typhoon. By the same token, water stations such as Henan Cortes water station in Mandaue, Cebu have opened their doors to the public. People can get water for free from 8 AM to 5 PM daily.
SMC adds, however, that while the water is not potable, it can be used for washing and other purposes while the area’s water supply is still limited.
In line with this, SMC President and CEO Ramon S. Ang gave a personal donation amounting to P1 million to Operation Damayan, a fundraising campaign organized by Philstar Media Group.
With this, it is hoped that all these donations and aid will go a long way and help our countrymen get back on their feet after this calamity.
