SMC has subsidized around P13 million in toll fees for frontliners during this lockdown

Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown began in March of this year, San Miguel Corporation (SMC) has given out a large amount of subsidies and donations to aid frontliners who constantly battle the dreaded disease. A huge part of these subsidies are the waived toll fees for frontliners.

SMC has reported that as of December 20, 2020, it has given out P138,213,619 worth of free toll fees to frontliners who traverse its major expressways. These include those who pass the SLEX, STAR tollway, Skyway, NAIAX and TPLEX. In total, some 10,402 frontliners from the medical, military, and government service fields have enjoyed the privilege.

Apart from this, SMC has likewise given out fuel subsidies, as well as food donations to aid frontliners as they go about in their fight against the virus. The company has also donated medical equipment like PPEs and PCR testing kits.

And as we end the year and head on to a new one, SMC is hopeful that it can continue to aid in the fight and totally help eradicate this menace.
