In its continuing bid to help curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus while looking after the safety and well being of its employees, San Miguel Corporation has rolled out a program that give its workforce the option to take the bicycle to work.
Rather than have them commute or take public transportation, SMC is offering bicycles to its employees at special rates that are almost a steal. A bicycle with basket, light, and drum brakes, for instance, can be had for just P2,080 while a compact handrail mountain bike with gearing, front suspension, and front and rear disc brakes goes for P3,000.
These can be paid off in 12 monthly installments. The rest of the bike’s price, meanwhile, will be shouldered by SMC. Apart from this, the conglomerate is also making available a COVID loan that gives employees the chance to avail of other transportation options. All this in the hopes of keeping them safe and healthy during these uncertain times.
In line with this, no less than SMC President and Chief Operating Officer Ramon S. Ang called on all road users to respect bikers who share road space with other motorists. They should not be treated as lesser motorists simply because they are on two wheels. it’s about respecting other human beings, he says.
With this, it is hoped that SMC’s employees continue to be productive while keeping safe on their way to and from work.
