SMC’s new packaging process can help keep carabao’s milk for up to 6 months

Numerous school children and other sectors will soon benefit from a new packaging process that can increase the shelf life of San Miguel Corporation’s carabao’s milk for up to six months.

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) and its San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corporation entered into an agreement with the Philippine Carabao Center to supply canned sterilized milk for children in Regions 1 to III and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

Some 1,012,840 school children will benefit from the milk that will be distributed as these can now easily be shipped without preservatives and kept under ambient temperature conditions. Previously, carabao’s milk would only keep for a period of 7 days. This meant it had to be shipped out daily.

The new packaging process would non only benefit more children who can enjoy the goodness and health benefits of carabao’s milk but will also entail lower shipping costs. No need to ship out on a daily basis. These milk products can now be distributed to far-flung areas where more people can enjoy their health benefits.

With this, SMC once again looks to provide better nutrition for these children, which in turn would help them achieve a brighter future.
