Suzuki Philippines Launches All-New Celerio with DualJet, EASS, TECT and Other New Technology

Suzuki’s new Celerio subcompact hatchback is set to shake the segment up once again

Suzuki Philippines, Inc. (SPH) gave their partners in the local motoring media and finance sectors a preview of the all-new Suzuki Celerio subcompact 5-door hatchback a day before its official launch on May 7, 2022. The small yet incredible Celerio features a host of new engine and chassis technology to provide better performance, nimbler handling, and improved fuel efficiency while subtle yet powerful exterior design changes encase a more spacious interior and improved occupant safety.

Departing from the previous boxy design, the all-new Celerio has a three-dimension curved surface with a “liquid expression” that, according to SPH, resembles a water surface. To emphasize the new body’s width and stability, the rear combination lamps are placed on the shoulder lines while the rear fenders are flared to tuck in the 15-inch black alloy wheels, which are an inch larger than the previous Celerio.

Efficiency and Power in One Compact Package

Powering the all-new Celerio is the technologically-advanced 1.0-liter K10C DualJet 3-cylinder engine that places two fuel injectors very close to the engine inlet valves in each cylinder for finer atomization of the fuel. This results in a more complete combustion and cooler engine operation that allowed Suzuki engineers to design a more compact combustion chamber, which mixes the air and fuel better, and, with the higher 11.5:1 compression ratio, converts the energy in the fuel to mechanical energy more efficiently.

To further enhance thermal efficiency, several friction-reduction technologies, such as roller-rocker valve lifters, cooling oil jets, and reduced hotspots in the combustion chamber are implemented, allowing the engine to run a more aggressive and efficient spark timing. A cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system takes hot air from the exhaust and cools it before putting it back into the combustion chamber. Suzuki claims that these technologies allow the K10C DualJet to produce 67 horsepower and 66 ft-lbs. of torque with a fuel efficiency rating of 28.25 kilometers per liter and low carbon emissions of only 84g/km.

The all-new Celerio comes with either a 5-speed stick shift manual transmission or an Auto Gear Shift (AGS) automated manual transmission with Intelligent Shift Control Actuator that automatically operates the gear selector and clutch. Both transmission choices come with Engine Automatic Stop Start (EASS) that automatically turns off the engine when the car is stationary to prevent unnecessary fuel consumption and minimize exhaust emissions and engine noise.

The all-new Celerio is built with Suzuki’s exclusive Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) structure that is designed to absorb and disperse the energy in the event of collision. It also comes standard with Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) to help the driver stay in directional control during emergency braking, sharp turns and wheel slippage plus Hill Hold Control (HHC) to prevent it from rolling backwards on steep slopes.

Compact Car Space in a Subcompact Body

This all-new subcompact hatchback features interior space that rivals a compact car’s. Suzuki engineers shaped the interior components to create more room while making ingress and egress easier. The instrument panel include uniquely designed vent grilles at the center and sides while a 6.2-inch infotainment system includes a clear and responsive anti-glare touchscreen, Weblink 2.0, Bluetooth and USB connectivity and audio controls on the steering wheel.

Just like the previous Celerio, the newest version offers lots of room, convenience and safety for its passengers and their valuables. With 295 liters of luggage room, the 60:40 split folding rear seats help produce more space for storing bigger items. Safety is enhanced with dual airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners, and rear parking sensors. Suzuki employs all these technologies for a better ride and a more premium feel for the new Celerio.

“The all-new Celerio has evolved into a compact car that will make people’s life easier, more convenient, and will allow to express one’s personality in an age where diversity is expected”, shared Norihide Takei, SPH’s General Manager for Automobile. “We are confident that the new Celerio will exceed expectations of customers who seek both practicality and individuality.”

Priced at PhP708,000 for the GL M/T and PhP754,000 GL AGS, the all-new Suzuki Celerio is available in Arctic White, Glistening Gray, Fire Red, and Speedy Blue Metallic at seventy-three (73) Suzuki Auto dealerships nationwide.
