Takumi craftsmanship weaves together fine art and engineering in the new Lexus LS

When Lexus began its automotive journey in 1989, it offered the LS sedan as a truly luxurious rival to what Europe had to offer at the time. Its main selling point was its attention to detail which continues until the present day.

Anyone can build a luxury sedan. Yet only Lexus takes its Takumi craftsmanship to heart in order to weave together fine art and engineering into an automotive masterpiece. This is seen in the pinnacle of the Lexus model range, the new LS sedan.

The exterior itself blends sportiness and luxury with its sweeping curves that aren’t ovedone yet blend harmoniously with gently sharp edges to create a flowing profile.

Step inside and you will be greeted by the finest materials like semi-aniline upholstery that covers the 4 sculpted seats. The rear seats feature individual thrones that each have a massage function with 7 setings to suit one’s taste. These seats also feature a power-adjustable Ottoman with adjustable seat cushions for a truly comfortable experience while on board.

This being a Lexus, it’s the little touches that matter. This is a sensory experience that includes a 23-speaker Mark Levinson Surround Sound system, an Infrared Rays Monitor that checks each occupants’ body temperature and adjusts the climate control accordingly, and the exclusive Kiriko Glass Art ornamentation that is truly a feast for the eyes.

Yet the LS Hybrid 4-Seater Premier is not just about fine art and sumptuous details. Just like its LS 500 sibling, it is likewise an engineering marvel. Under the hood is a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that offers exceptional dynamic performance. There is also a hybrid powertrain that serves up equally stellar fuel economy for a large sedan without sacrificing performance.

These engines are matched by the Artificial Intelligence Shift Control that not only helps the Direct-shift 10-speed auto stay in the right gear but adjusts the Drive Mode selector to find the right driving mode to suit the driver’s speed and throttle input. Couple this with the Adaptive Variable Suspension and you’ve got a smooth riding sedan that can likewise play in the corners when you want it to.

Of course, Lexus Safety System 2.0 or LSS+2 is included to give total peace of mind with goodies like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning and Assistance, and adaptive high beams, and the like. It’s all designed to protect occupants and those around them.
