The Kia Stonic officially enters the Philippine market with style and substance

After months of teasing and a press preview a few weeks back, the Kia Stonic finally makes its way to the Philippines via digital launch held earlier today.

As keen readers may note, this little number is Kia’s entry into a relatively new segment—the smaller subcompact crossover class. Slotting below the already subcompact Seltos, the Stonic ticks the tape measure at 4,100mm in length, 1,735mm width, and 1,533mm wide with a 2,570mm wheelbase. Don’t let the tidy dimensions fool you, though, as it sits a good 185mm off the ground.

Under the hood is Kia’s 1.4-liter four-cylinder motor with Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing technology that puts out 95bhp and 74lb-ft of torque. It can be had in either 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.

Aimed primarily at young and hip individuals, couples starting out with a small family, and folks that are looking for an easy to drive small car that won’t be bullied on the road, the new Stonic gets a host of convenience, connectivity, and safety features.

It has, for instance Park Distance Control with Reverse Camera with Dynamic Guidelines to make getting to tight parking spaces much easier. it’s also got pushbutton start with keyless access for the EX variant. And of course, there’s an 8-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto hooked up to a 6-speaker system.

In terms of safety, the Stonic packs quite a lot of goodies like dual SRS airbag’s, ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and child lock that all give peace of mind.

All this is wrapped in a stylish bodyshell that is complemented by the signature Tiger Nose grille, projector font headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights for the EX variant (LX gets foglamps), and a two-tone paint scheme for the EX.

Speaking of peace of mind, the Kia Stonic comes with a 5-year/160,000km warranty and 24/7 Roadside Assistance for 5 years. This means owners can fully enjoy their new ride without worrying too much about things going wrong.

Available in hip and stylish colors, the new Kia Stonic is priced as follows:

  • Stonic LX MT: P735,000
  • Stonic LX AT: P835,000
  • Stonic EX AT: P925,000

Kia Philippines, however, is offering huge discounts until the end of November. This means that the LX MT can be had for just P675,000, the LX AT for just P785,000, and P875,000 for the top-spec EX AT. Check it out at your nearest Kia dealer today.
