A few weeks back, Ferrari teased us with images of an upcoming special variant of its 812 SuperFast. Apparently, it isn’t a special version but a replacement of the 812 SuperFast and 812 GTS. Enter the Ferrari 812 Competizione and 812 Competizione A.
The duo is made up of a Coupe and Targa version, respectively. What sets this apart from the SuperFast and GTS is what lies under the hood—a tweaked and upgraded 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 that now puts out 830bp and 510lb-ft of torque. This new mill now revs to a heady 9,500rpm.
Mated to a revised 7-speed dual clutch gearbox that now promises quicker shift times, the coupe is capable of hitting 100km/h from rest in 2.85 seconds. It can now do the 0-200km/h run in 7.5 ticks and hit a terminal velocity of 340km/h. And yes, all with a glorious soundtrack of a truly high revving engine.
Besides the engine, the Competizione and Competizione A now get revised four-wheel steering, as well as aero upgrades that not only give it better wind cheating abilities but make it look really good. It’s an evolutionary step up, to say the least.
Expect to see the Ferrari 812 Competizione and 812 Competizione A hit the road in limited numbers within the year.
