The Skyway Extension’s northbound section now open

A few weeks after the completion of asphalt laying, San Miguel Corporation finally opened the northbound section of the Skyway Extension to the public recently.

The conglomerate opened two of the three lanes of the 4km elevated expressway that runs from Susana Heights to Sucat. This would now make it easier to get onto the Skyway system directly from SLEX, especially for those motorists coming from Laguna, Cavite, or Batangas.

Moreover, the Skyway Extension is poised to accommodate some 4,500 vehicles per hour, helping ease traffic on SLEX as those heading to Makati, Manila, Quezon City, or even NLEX need not pass through the Alabang viaduct.

With this, travel time to NLEX, for instance, coming from Laguna can be as short as 30 minutes via the Skyway Extension going all the way through Skyway 3.

In line with the opening, SMC announced that the 4km Skyway Extension northbound section will be toll free until further notice.
