When one hears the name Tom’s Racing, images of souped-up Supras, MR2s, 86s, and even Corollas come to mind. But the officially supported tuning and racing arm of Toyota and Lexus has just gotten its hands on the stately Century.
Enter the Tom’s Century.
The Century, as many car enthusiasts will know, is Toyota’s flagship sedan that has been the ride of choice of many a successful tycoon, as well as Head of State in Japan for a little over 53 years. It now gets the Tom’s Racing treatment as seen via the front and rear lip, side skirts, a rear spoiler, and specially designed alloy rims.
Performance enhancements come in the form of a new exhaust that helps add to the sound of the 425hp 5.0-liter V8 with hybrid technology. And as with other Tom’s Racing creations, buyers can specify other bits like color and add-ons to make the Tom’s Century truly their own.
Sure, the Tom’s Century may be understated and doesn’t immediately scream go-faster. But that’s the whole point—the Century is a stately car that deserves that bit of added visual oomph.
First seen at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show, only 36 units will be built by Tom’s Racing. And all these cars are slated for its Japanese home market.
