Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP), through its social and humanitarian arm, Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation (TMPF), in partnership with the City Government of Santa Rosa and Gawad Kalinga (GK) Community Development Foundation, officially completes the construction of 160 housing units in the Toyota-City of Santa Rosa-GK Village in Brgy. Pulong Sta. Cruz, Santa Rosa City, Laguna.

The Toyota-City of Santa Rosa-GK Village is a landmark project with the local government of Santa Rosa and Gawad Kalinga. Toyota donated a total of PhP 22 Million for the construction of the socialized housing units and a multi-purpose hall inside the village.

In Toyota’s celebration of its 25th Anniversary in the Philippines this year, TMP president Sugata said in his special message, ?This project is our way of giving back to the society which gave us so many opportunities for business growth.  This event is the culmination of Toyota?s 25th year celebration which becomes more meaningful as we celebrate it with you, our community partners and beneficiaries.?

The City Government of Santa Rosa, led by Mayor Arlene Arcillas, donated the land for the Project Site. The total land area covers 8,000 sq.m. Of this, around 5,000 sq. m. have been allocated for housing and around 3,000 sq. m. for the development of a common area where a park, school, community center, and multi-purpose hall will be constructed.

As the lead coordinator for the project, GK implements the housing program, covering engineering and construction management, in the spirit of self-help and people participation. It is also in charge of coordinating other programs for health, education and livelihood for the beneficiaries of the Toyota-City of Santa Rosa-GK Village.

Present during the ceremony were TMP president Michinobu Sugata, TMPF president David Go, GK chairman and founder Tony Meloto, Santa Rosa City mayor Arlene Arcillas, Santa Rosa City vice mayor Arnel Gomez, and Pulong Sta. Cruz barangay captain Constancia Dones.
