Toyota Motor Philippines ends the year 2020 by unveiling an updated Yaris subcompact hatchback, making the model more exciting and value packed to face the new year.
The changes to the new Yaris are most evident from the front, with a new mesh grille flanked by stylish headlights that now come with LED lighting for the 1.5 S CVT variant. Floglights in LED complement the revised look, as do restyled alloy wheels. The changes are rounded out by equally new taillights.
Step inside and you’ll be greeted by an upgraded infotainment touchscreen that now comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto across the range. The top-spec 1.5 S CVT variant gets synthetic leather seats, pushbutton starter with Smart Key Access, and a 6-speaker audio system. Needless to say, the hatchback configuration means more people and cargo carrying versatility.
Under the hood, the 2021 Toyota Yaris can be had in either a 1.5-liter Dual VVTi-equipped engine with 107bhp and 107lb-ft of torque, or a 1.3-liter Dual VVTi mill with 99bhp and 91lb-ft. Both are mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with the larger 1.5-liter motor benefiting from Paddle Shifters. Drivers also get to choose between Eco and Sport modes, depending on the driving situation.
And of course, safety is a key part of this subcompact hatch with 7 SRS airbags across all variants, along with Vehicle Stability Control and Hill Start Assist. The 1.5 S CVT version adds speed sensing doorlocks that give even greater peace of mind.
The new Yaris comes at at the heels of TMP’s 5 consecutive vehicle launches since June of this year. These include the updated Wigo, Vios, the new Corolla Cross, the latest iteration Hilux, and the upgraded Fortuner.
The 2021 Toyota Yaris is now available for viewing at all Toyota dealers with deliveries beginning on January 13, 2021. It is available in the following variants and prices:
- 1.3 E CVT: P973,000
- 1.5 S CVT: P1,114,000
