Toyota’s GR-HV Sports Concept is an 86 with a targa roof

Toyota Motors includes GR HV Sports concept in Tokyo

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has officially released the images of the GR HV Sports concept that will have its worldwide debut at the 45th Tokyo Motor Show starting from October 25 to November 5.  The GR HV Sports concept will represent a new way to enjoy cars by integrating the thrill of a sports car with the environmental friendliness of an eco-car.

Recently revealed with the Toyota Gazoo Racing’s line-up, the design of the GR HV Sports concept is similar to the TS050 Hybrid racing car that competed in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). It also features a targa top, which was used for Toyota’s legendary convertible sports cars, the Toyota Sports 800, and the Supra.

While completely embodying functionality as a genuine sports car, the GR HV Sports Concept is powered by THS-R (Toyota Hybrid System-Racing) that is infused with hybrid technology refined by the TS050 Hybrid. It also has LED headlights, aluminum wheels, and a rear diffuser. The design evokes Toyota’s bond with motor sports.

Inside, the sports car concept has a selection to switch to automatic gear position, which is located in the center cluster to achieve a racing car-like ambience, while its push button ignition switch is located on the shift knob.

TMC didn’t release further details regarding the specifications beneath its hood, but will definitely give on its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show.
