Weekend Spoiled for Yamaha Racing Philippines

A disappointing weekend for Filipino racers, Mckinley Kyle “The Wonderboy” Paz (Yamaha Philippines Stylobike Racing Team), April King Mascardo and Gian Carlo Mauricio (UMA Racing MMR Yamaha Philippines Team) fighting for results on the international stage last October 8 and 9.

Our boys competing in the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) were hoping to replicate Mascardo’s podium finish from the previous round but were denied victory in Malaysia. Mascardo and Mauricio were in top form in race one leading for several laps finishing sixth and seventh. Mascardo dropped out of race two leaving Mauricio to compete against the best of Asia by himself. He finished third but sanctions against him dropped his position to 14th place.

“The Wonderboy” didn’t have luck on his side either as he was relegated to P36 on the grid for race one due to a long lap penalty. He would salvage this by fighting his way to 14th place but race two would deal a devastating blow as Kyle was not able to finish.

It was a disappointing turn of events for the Philippine racing teams this past weekend. Let’s all cheer them on as they conclude this year’s campaign for glory and hope for the odds to be in their favor in their next rounds. Kyle’s FIM JRGP season will end on October 31st in Valencia, Spain. April and Gian will conclude their ARRC campaign in Thailand on November 19-20.
